Randy Hutchings is a singer/songwriter. He has been a fixture of the Canadian music scene since 1986. He has toured across Canada for many years and has performed in a wide variety of festivals and music venues.
Hailing from St. John’s, Newfoundland, In 2006, he released his second album with Calgary’s Lorrie Matheson producing. The album featured some of the area’s most talented players, including the legendary Billy Cowsill. This also marked the beginning of a distribution deal with OP3/Universal Music Canada. At this time, Zoe Bentley, another artist on the same label, recorded a song specifically written for her debut recording. Reach for the stars is still in her live repertoire.
In 2007, Hutchings received a radio grant from Rawlco to record his third CD and was the first local artist to be played when the commercial station UP! 97.7 went to air! His single, South Country, achieved radio rotation on UP! 97.7 FM and Alison Brock’s CKUA show Wide Cut Country. Hutchings was invited to perform on the songwriting stage for the Big Valley Jamboree in August of 2008, 2009 and 2010. 2021 Hutchings released two new singles, with plans to release a new album in the Fall of 2024
