Karla Pilgrim - The Newfoundland Embassy Pub

at The Newfoundland Embassy

Three time MusicNL award winner and two time ECMA nominee, Roddickton, Newfondland and Labrador native Karla Pilgrim has spent the last 15 years winning over audiences from coast to coast. From performing for troops in The Middle East, May of 2007, to opening multiple sold out shows for country music superstar Tim McGraw in August 2015 at the Mile One Stadium in St. Johns, NL, Pilgrim’s experience as a performer knows no boundaries.

In June of 2009, after years of playing shows, writing and traveling, Pilgrim released her award winning solo album ‘I’ll Think of You’. Riding the success of her first record Pilgrim was selected to open for Alan Jackson when he rolled through town in August of 2010. She enlisted friends to join her for what would be three unforgettable nights. Following the success of these shows, Pilgrim and friends formed country vocal trio The Secrets. After 10 years of touring, The Secrets disbanded in 2020 but not without releasing an award winning country record; ‘Break Even’ and two Christmas albums.

In 2022 after Pilgrim’s new country trio, LadyLike, started to slow down she made the decision to put together her first ever band. ‘Karla Pilgrim and The Mayflowers’ are high energy and include some of Newfoundland and Labrador’s most accomplished musicians, bringing a world class country show to their audience.

With the buzz around Karla releasing her first solo single in 13 years and shows quickly filling her calendar, it seems this next step in her musical journey is just what her followers have been waiting for.

While Pilgrim is beyond enthusiastic to be fronting a band for the first time in her career, she will still be active in writing and producing various projects, performing with Jackie Sullivan – her duo partner of over 20 years and as one third of LadyLike. Karla is also a proud member of The Spirit of Newfoundland Productions and currently starring in critically acclaimed show ‘Nashville Nights’.

2023 is promising to be an epic year for Karla. First up is a trip to the US in April for a Television taping to be aired for PBS. In May she’ll present an Eva Cassidy Tribute in St. John’s, NL, followed by a busy festival season.
